On the night of February 12, 2008, a car bomb in Damascus, planted by Asef SHAWKAT's military Intelligence goons, through a tortuous web of international machinations and intrigue... killed Imad F. Mughniyeh, the head of Hezbollah's military wing. The assassination, which was covertly supported by one dissident faction in Tehran, within the Iranian government circles... diminished temporarily the legend of Hezbollah's invincibility. Intelligence services of at least forty countries had pursued Imad F. Mughniyeh for decades, and he had succeeded in evading them all. كشفت مصادر شديدة الخصوصية لـ"السياسة" أن مدير جهاز الأمن السياسي السوري اللواء محمد منصورة وبعض كبار ضباط الاستخبارات، متورطون في تسهيل اغتيال القائد العسكري في "حزب الله" عماد مغنية، الأمر الذي أرغم الرئيس بشار الأسد على إحالة منصورة الى التقاعد، ووضع الضباط قيد الاقامة الجبرية.
وأوضحت المصادر أن التحقيقات التي يجريها مدير الامن العام اللواء علي مملوك في اغتيال مغنية في تفجير سيارته في دمشق قبل عام، قد شهدت في الاونة الاخيرة تطورا دراماتيكيا، إثر توصل المحققين الى دلائل قاطعة تشير الى تورط اللواء منصورة، إضافة إلى ضباط كبار يعملون في دوائر المخابرات، في تسهيل عملية الاغتيال وخاصة في ما يتعلق بإجراءات الحماية التي كان من المفروض أن تطبق.
وأكدت المصادر ان نتائج التحقيق رفعت الى الاسد قبل أسابيع عدة، ما دفعه الى اصدار قرار يقضي بإحالة منصورة على التعاقد، وتعيين نائبه اللواء ديب زيتون لإدارة جهاز الأمن السياسي، اضافة الى وقف عمل ضباط المخابرات المتورطين، ووضعهم قيد الاقامة الجبرية ومصادرة املاكهم المنقولة وغير المنقولة، الى حين البت في التهم الموجهة ضدهم.
وكشفت المصادر الخاصة أن إدارة الأمن السياسي "كانت مصدر تسرب المعلومات حول تحركات مغنية في دمشق والبيوت السرية التي كان يجري فيها سواء اجتماعاته مع المسؤولين الامنيين والعسكريين السوريين أو مع عشيقاته"، مشيرة الى ان هذه المعلومات وجدت طريقها سريعاً إلى مخططي ومنفذي عملية الاغتيال.
ولفتت الى ان المحققين اكتشفوا عدداً من وثائق تسهيل المرور التي وقع عليها اللواء منصورة، ومنحت لأشخاص مشبوهين لم يتمكن منصورة من توفير اي تفسير لأسباب منحها.
